Ophélie Collet
Ophélie Collet is a French visual artist which explore the behavior of matter thought installation and performance
Guided by natural phenomena, Ophélie explores the behavior of matter questionning its ability to structure itself under mechanical and physical forces. Her experimental research investigates how can we perceive a change of state and how such an emergence can be produced. She explores transitional states and the kinetic presence of materials, using natural element to give form.
Her practice unfolds between installation and choreography, between matter and body, between human and non-human time. She tends to create choreographic and scenographic systems such as performances of matter.
Through the gesture, she allows movement to detach itself from the individual intention. Guided by the material, motion unfolds with its own rhythm, its own energy, its own time: the time of matter. Ophélie’s works focus on the liminal space where matter becomes form — where it becomes a body.
Her recent explorations extend this question through mechanical system that sustain continual movement. She investigates the boundaries between the living and the inert, between movement and its capture, between the human and the elemental. Her work unfolds as a cycle, where each ending opens onto a new beginning — a phenomenon, she seeks to reveal and bring to the stage.
Graduate of the National School of Applied Arts in Paris Duperré, then she has developed her work in Japan, where she continues to exhibit and create.
